Knights of Columbus Council 13388 ~ 2009-2010

Our Mission Statement

Christ The King Council13388 is comprised of members of the Knights of Columbus, the largest fraternal lay organization of The Catholic Church. We are Catholic gentlemen committed to the exemplification of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Patriotism and Defense of The Catholic Church. The order is consecrated to The Blessed Virgin Mary and is unequivocal in it’s loyalty to the Pope and is firmly committed to the protection of human life from conception to natural death and the preservation and the defense of the family. We are dedicated to helping Catholic Families spiritually grow in their faith and defend their beliefs. Through strong volunteerism of time and talent, members involve themselves in charitable programs to meet the needs of Christ The King Parish and the Mashpee, MA community.

Father Michael J. Mc Givney
founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882 at Saint Mary’s in New Haven, CT. as an organization committed to unity as a Catholic lay organization, Charity to those in need and Fraternity with fellow brother knights.

Today, knights and their families remain true to these principles and work to spread Columbianism around the world.

You and your family will benefit from membership in the Knights of Columbus. Join today and help make a better tomorrow.

The Knights Prayer

Our Lady Queen of the Knights, bless all the activities of our order. Keep us true to our pledge to extend the kinship of thy Divine Son on Earth. Through your intercession, win for us the grace ever to exemplify in our public and in our private lives the virtues which should characterize those specially dedicated to the service of the heavenly court. Make us always aware as your Knights we are constantly observed, our faith judged and our order appreciated. Accept O Mary this renewed pledge of Faith and devotion of thy servants, The Knights of Columbus, Amen.

Knights of Columbus Lantern Award

The 2009 K of C Lantern Award, the highest civilian award was presented at the Annual Patriot’s Banquet by the Massachusetts K of C State Deputy William Donovan to John and Magi Bish.  They established the Molly Bish Foundation. in memory of their daughter who  went missing in  the summer of 2000 while working as a lifeguard.  Her whereabouts remained unknown for three years when her body was located within five miles of where she was abducted.  The Foundation’s purpose is to assist law enforcement, educators, and the public in providing information, training, and enhanced security for all children.  In addition to their lecturing at various forums, John and Magi were also instrumental in bringing the Amber Alert to Massachusetts.

Grand Knights Message

Our October recruitment drive proved fruitful ,with one new prospect
who will become a brother this month, and three prospects of interest.
We are pleased to welcome our new member, and those men who
have expressed interest in joining the Knights of Columbus. Ann
Marie and I were pleased to attend the State Council’s Charity Ball,
where we presented our council’s Annual Tootsie Roll Drive proceeds
check to the State Board. (See photo on Page 4). Tootsie Roll Drive
proceeds are pooled with those of other State Councils to provide
major assistance to physically disadvantaged citizens in need of: a
residential elevator, an access ramp, automobile van modification,
enlarging home doorways, or bathrooms, etc. Our recent social
provided a interesting evening with special guest Henry Lind, who in addition to describing his history as Shellfish Officer in Eastham, discussed the difficulties facing most Cape Town in keeping a clean pond and ocean environment.
