An Invitation for Non-Practicing Catholics
Third Presentation of “Catholics Returning Home”
Successfully Completed
The third offering of “Catholics Returning Home” at Christ the King Parish was presented from May 4 to June 1, 2010. The program was offered in response to one of the parish’s strategic goals, “Reaching Out to Inactive Catholics”.
The five sessions focused on facilitating the return of non-practicing Catholics to the Church and to receiving the sacraments. Some of the participants wanted to update their understanding of their faith, while others have serious issues that they wanted to discuss. Some had been hurt by their church experience or had let their participation in the Church lapse. Seven participants completed the program and found the courage to make a commitment to reach out for a new understanding of what it means to be Catholic.
One of the participants said at the conclusion of the program, “I feel as though something was missing in my life, and I’m being called back to the church.”
It is anticipated that the next session will be presented in the spring of 2011.

“Didn’t Christ tell us about the good shepherd who left the ninety-nine and went searching for the lost sheep?
We did not leave the 6,000 parishioners behind, but they all supported us in prayer as we went searching for the lost one and found ten!”
