The newly elected Knights of Columbus Council 13388 ~ 2012-2013 Our Mission Statement Christ The King Council13388 is comprised of members of the Knights of Columbus, the largest fraternal lay organization of The Catholic Church. We are Catholic gentlemen committed to the exemplification of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Patriotism and Defense of The Catholic Church. The order is consecrated to The Blessed Virgin Mary and is unequivocal in it’s loyalty to the Pope and is firmly committed to the protection of human life from conception to natural death and the preservation and the defense of the family. We are dedicated to helping Catholic Families spiritually grow in their faith and defend their beliefs. Through strong volunteerism of time and talent, members involve themselves in charitable programs to meet the needs of Christ The King Parish and the Mashpee, MA community. Father Michael J. Mc Givney founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882 at Saint Mary’s in New Haven, CT. as an organization committed to unity as a Catholic lay organization, Charity to those in need and Fraternity with fellow brother knights. Today, knights and their families remain true to these principles and work to spread Columbianism around the world. You and your family will benefit from membership in the Knights of Columbus.  St. Mary’s Education Fund

Proceeds from this fund raiser Provide “need based “scholarships for children attending the Catholic Schools in the Fall River Diocese.

The Third Annual Christ the King Council of the Knights of Columbus Scholarship

Nicole Linse, a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Grammar School, was awarded the third annual Knights of Columbus  Scholarship.

Nicole, a National Junior Honor Society student, is a very active participant in school and church activities, including editor of her school newspaper, and athletics and drama club participation. She’s been a member of our youth ministry, she has been a member of the youth choir since she was 7 years old and currently is a cantor and a soloist, and she is also a Senior Alter Server. In addition she has maintained an above average level of academic achievement.

The Knights of Columbus are proud and pleased to award Nicole a $1,000 Scholarship to Pope John Paul II High School.

All the work was done by the Knights, Jim Livingston (who built the new crèche), Jay Ambrose, Mike Kondraki, Jim Laughlin, Normand Laroque, Paul Johnson, Chick Mulrain, and friends who have always taken part in putting up lights, Jim Everson, and Bob Hester.

HEREOS IN TRANSITION

On Nov. 25, 2010 the Knights of Columbus of Christ The King Parish, Mashpee presented a talk by Ken and Cynthia Jones, parents of Capt. Eric A. Jones, USMC  killed in Afghanistan a little over a year ago. Cynthia gave a very enlightening talk on how Eric was raised, and his passion for flying, and his desire to help his fellow man. Next, Ken told of how they coped with the loss of their son, by starting an organization that continued Eric’s wish to help others in need.

Mr. John Moon, Chief Communications Officer of the Neads Foundation, was introduced by Ken. Neads is a nonprofit organization that trains and provides dogs to people who are deaf or physically disabled. These assistance dogs become an extension of their owners and bring security, freedom, independence and relief from social isolation to their human partners. He introduced the audience to “Rainbow”, a five year old dog that has already helped some veterans, and now is helping the public see just how well trained the dogs are.

Ken also thanked the Knights of Columbus for all their help in their work with Heroes in Transition, and their generous donations for its cause. Bill Kelley and Jay Ambrose presented the Jones’ with a check from the K. of C. to continue the work of the Heroes in Transition Organization.

The event ended with Ken and Cynthia Jones making a very substantial donation to the Neads Organization.

Refreshments were served after the talk. 

Jim McNeill 2010 Good Guy Award Joe Powers presents the Jim McNeill 2010 Good Guy Award to Dick Kiernan. This award is given each year at the Christ The King Charitable Golf Tournament  to a deserving person who cares for others, especially the very needy of our society.Dick typifies the goodness and unselfishness that results in many charitable acts including helping those in need with food, clothing and financial support. He's also been instrumental in raising thousands of dollars for children with intellectual and physical disabilities.
